Just found out that lining your raised vegetable garden with copper keeps out slugs. More info here:-
http://www.modernvespa.com/forum/topic43910?start=80 This is a great conversation that has some cool photos and lots of useful. I also learnt that putting wire mesh under the bed can be a good idea if you are prone to burrowing creatures. Better to think of these things sooner rather than later.|

Both of those ideas sound good at first, but then most people tend to forget about corrosion. When the copper corrodes, it doesn’t have much of an effect on gastropods. Also, if your wire mesh isn’t galvanized, it’ll disintegrate rapidly and be rendered ineffective. Personally, I’d like to string some razor wire under my planter box to end those damn gophers.
