Just found out that lining your raised vegetable garden with copper keeps out slugs. More info here:-

This is a great conversation that has some cool photos and lots of useful. I also learnt that putting wire mesh under the bed can be a good idea if you are prone to burrowing creatures. Better to think of these things sooner rather than later.
